Let Principal be Rs. x and R.O.I be r%

SI for 5 years = (r*x/20)

So, SI =0.4*x
=> (r*x/20) = 0.4*x
=> r=(20*0.4)=8%

Let cp of fridge = x and that of washing machine= y
Now, 0.9x + 1.2y=x+y (As no loss no gain) ------ (1)
and again 1.05x + 0.95 y = x+y-10 --------- (2)

Solve for x and y to get x= 400 and y= 200
