Question:
A dealer sold two watches for \(\unicode{x20B9} \)3,600 each, gaining 25% on one and losing 25% on another. How much he gain or loss in the whole transaction?
Options:
A) 460 gain
B) 470 gain
C) 480 loss
D) 490 loss
Solution:

Its a common loss and gain type of a question and in such cases always a net loss is incurred.

Total loss =     2 x S.P
                  (100/x)² - 1
               =    2 x 3600
                  (100/25)2 – 1
               = 2 x 3600
                    16 – 1
               = 2 x 3600
                      15
               = 7200
                    15
                = \(\unicode{x20B9} \)480
