Question:

A and B together can do a piece of work in 10 days. B and C together can do a same work in 20 days. A and C together can complete the same work in 30 days. The number of days taken by A when completing the same work alone to approximately what percent of the number of days taken by C when completing the same task alone?

Options:
A) 12%
B) 18%
C) 24%
D) 20%
Solution:
Ans:(d)

(A+B) + (B+C) + (C+A) = 1

\(\Rightarrow\) 2 (A + B + C) = 2 (\(\cfrac{1}{10}\)+\(\cfrac{1}{20}\)+\(\cfrac{1}{30}\)) = \(\cfrac{11}{60}\)

= \(\cfrac{11}{120}\)

\(\Rightarrow\) (A+B+C) - (B+C) = \(\cfrac{11}{120}\)-\(\cfrac{1}{20}\)

\(\Rightarrow\) \(\cfrac{11-6}{120}\)= \(\cfrac{5}{120}\)

= 24 days

\(\Rightarrow\) (A+B+C) - (A+B) = \(\cfrac{11}{120}\)-\(\cfrac{1}{10}\)

\(\Rightarrow\) \(\cfrac{12-11}{120}\)= \(\cfrac{1}{120}\) = 120

\(\Rightarrow\) Required percentage(%) = \(\cfrac{24}{120}\times100 =\) 20%
