The HCF of x³ - 6x² + 11x - 6, x³ + x² - 9x - 9 and x³ - 6x² + 5x + 12 is:

Options:

A) x² - x+ 1

B) x -2

C) x - 3

D) x² - 2x + 3

Solution:

Ans: (c)

x³ - 6x² + 11x - 6 = (x - 1) (x² - 5x + 6)

= (x - 1) (x - 3) (x - 2)

x³ + x² - 9x - 9 = (x + 1) (x² - 9) = (x + 1) (x + 3) (x - 3)

and x³ - 6x² + 5x + 12 = (x + 1) (x² - 7x + 12)

= (x + 1) (x - 4) (x - 3)
