The syllabus of General studies section in SSC CGL is quite vast. Without careful analysis it feels that the syllabus is vague and improperly defined.

In SSC CGL Tier -2 exam, the syllabus of General Studies paper is divided into two parts:

Part A : Finance and Accounts : Financial Accounting and Basic concepts of Accounting. This paper is of 80 marks.

Part B : Economics and Micro Economics, Theory of Demand and Supply, Theory of Production and Cost, Money and Banking, Indian Economy, Economic Reforms in India, Money and Banking

There are many Books which you can opt for General Studies in SSC to perform well. For SSC you need to go through the 10 year previous paper for all sections as well as for GS section. As there is the trend of repetition of some questions, hence it will be smarter if you will go through it.

Some of the recommended books for SSC CGL tier-2 General Study’s section is:

  1. Lucents- This book will provide a deeper understanding of the concepts.
  2. Periyar Publication for Geography- It is one of the rare Books but highly recommended among the aspirants because it explains the concept in lucid way along with handmade maps. This book follows strictly the syllabus of NCERT. So even Three to four starting chapters will boost your confidence.
  3. Lawpoint's Competitive Solutions General Studies (Finance and Economics) with Notes and MCQs for SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam

Apart from above books, you should also read newspapers like Times of India, Economic Times, Finance magazines etc. which will make you aware about latest developments in the economics world.

This paper is mostly based on theory and facts. Hence try to read and note down all the important points from the related topics.  This section can help you fetch good marks in the examination.

Finally, don't forget to take practice mock test papers. These mock test will have questions from topics which needs to be prepared. This will definitely clear all your doubts and boost your confidence. Focus not only on clearing the sectional cut off but also sufficiently high score.
