As cube has edge 2cm we can put max 2 cube layers. By putting 3rd layer total height will become 6cm which will eventually exceed the height of the container.

suppose take x,y,z as -2,-2,2. which satifies xyz=8;
(1+x)(1+y)(1+z) = (1-2)(1-2)(1+2) = -1*-1*3 =3.
