“I lost my pen yesterday,” he said.

A) He said that he was lost his pen the previous day. 
B) He said that he lost his pen the previous day. 
C) He said that he had lost his pen the previous day.
D) He said that he loses his pen the previous day. 
Solution:
Ans: (c)   Simple past change to past perfect

RULE - If the reporting verb is in the past tense, and the verb of the reported speech is in the past indefinite tense, it (the verb in the reported speech) is changed into the past perfect tense.

examples -  

   Direct : He said, "I wrote the book." 

   Indirect ' : He said that he had written the book.
