A student multiplied a number by \(\cfrac{3}{5}\)instead of \(\cfrac{5}{3}\) . What is the percentage error in the calculation?
Options:
A) 44%
B) 34%
C) 54%
D) 64%
Solution:
Let the number = x

According to the question

wrong answer = \(\cfrac{3}{5}x\)

correct answer= \(\cfrac{5}{3}x\)

Required percent error  

\(\cfrac{\cfrac{5}{3}x-\cfrac{3}{5}x}{\cfrac{5}{3}x}\times100=\cfrac{16x}{15}\times\cfrac{3}{5x}\times100\)

Required percent error =64%
