Question:

If \(\left (a + \cfrac {1}{a} \right )^2\) = 3, then the value of a3 +  \(\cfrac{1}{a^3}\)  is :

B) 1
C) 2
D) 6

Dear Student,

Since, (a+b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 + 2ab

Similarly,

(a+1/a)^2 = (a)^2 + (1/a)^2 + 2 * a * 1/a = a^2 + 1/a^2 + 2
