in question it is not given that fathers present age is double that of his son.
Then how could you write 2x = 38. its wrong

Question:

A father says to his son, "When you were born, I was that of your present age" If father is 38 years old now then what was the age of son 5 years back.

It's not be double...if born baby 0yrs nd his father xyrs.....at the present day baby age xyrs....here also increase same yrs in age of father so that x+x=2x
