A mixture of brass contains Cu and Zn and a mixture of bronze contains Cu, Zn and Tn having 80%, 4% and 16%, respectively. Both mixture are mixed and resulting mixture contains percentage of Cu, Zn and Tn, 74%, 16% and 10%. respectively. Find the percentage of Cu and Zn in the mixture of brass. 
Options:
A) 64%, 36%
B) 44%, 56%
C) 60%, 40%
D) 80%, 20%
Solution:
Ans: (a) Ratio of Cu, Zn, and Tn in resulting 

mixture     = 74 : 16 : 10

                = 592 : 128 : 80

Ratio of Cu, Zn and Tn in mixture of brass 

                = 80 : 4 : 16

                = 400 : 20 : 80

Ratio of Cu and Zn in mixture of brass 

                = (529 – 400) : (128 – 20)

                = 192 : 108

                = 16 : 9

Percentage of Cu and Zn = 64 % and 36%
