The given answer is correct.
Given that angle ABC = 55 degree and we know M = 90 degree therefore angle MAB = 180 - (90+55) = 35 degree
And we can see angle A = MAB + MAC
90 = 35 + MAC
MAC = 90 - 35 = 55 degree
