Question:

A man sells two wrist watches one at a profit of 20% and another at a loss of 20%. If the selling price of each watch is 1212 Rs. then as a percentage of selling price what will be the loss or profit?

Options:
A)

 Loss, 4%

B)

 Profit, 4%

C)

 No profit no loss

D)

 Loss, 4.16%

Solution:

When two articles of same c.p. are sold in a way that first at x% profit and second at x% loss then there is always loss of x2100

So, % loss = 20×20100=4%

This is % loss according to cost price so % loss according to selling price =

4100-4×100=124×100=10024%=4.16%
