MN PERPENDICULAR TO PQ HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE ACCORDING RO FIGURE

Question:
In the given figure, PQ = 24 cm. M is the mid-point of QR. 


Also, MN ⊥ PR, QS = 7 cm and TR = 21 cm, then SN = ?

Options:
A) 50 cm
B) 12.5cm
C) 31 cm
D) 25 cm
Solution:

Ans: (d) ∆PQS ∆PMN ∆PRT

∴ N is the mid-point of ST

Also in ∆PQS, PS2 = (24)2 + (7)2

= 625

⇒ PS = 25cm As PQS PRT

\(\Rightarrow \cfrac{QS}{RT}=\cfrac{PQ}{PQ}=\cfrac{PS}{PT}=\cfrac{7}{21}=\cfrac{1}{3}\)

∴ PR = 3 × PQ = 72cm

and PT = 3 × PS = 75 cm

∴ ST = PT -  PS = 50cm

∴ SN = 25 cm
