Question:

Which one is smallest?

√3, ∛2, √2 and ∛4.

Options:
A) √3
B) ∛4
C) ∛2
D) √2
Solution:

√3 = 31/2, 2 = 21/3, √2 = 21/2 and 4 = 41/3

L.C.M. of 2, 3, 2, 3 = 6

√3 = 31/2 × 3/3 = \(\sqrt[6]{27}\)

Similarly, 2 = 21/3 × 2/2 = \(\sqrt[6]{4}\)

√2 = 21/2 × 3/3 = \(\sqrt[6]{8}\)

4 = 41/3 × 2/2 = \(\sqrt[6]{16}\)
