Celina and Aditi can do a piece of work in 45 days and 40 days respectively. They began to work together but Celina leaves after ‘x’ days and Aditi finished the rest of the work in (x + 14) days. After how many days did Celina leave?
Options:
A) 19
B) 11
C) 9
D) 12
Solution:
Work done by both in x days = \(\cfrac{x}{40}+\cfrac{x}{45}\)

Work done by Aditi in (x + 14)days = \(\cfrac{x+14}{40}\)
\(∴ \cfrac{x}{40}+\cfrac{x}{45}+\cfrac{x+14}{40}=1\)

⇒ x = 9

∴ Celina leave the work after 9 days.
