wrong answer (Question: 238125.6 )

in option "A" ...from the sentence it is not clear that who would he pay??

Question:
DIRECTIONS: In the following question, a sentence has been given in Direct/Indirect speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, select the one which best express the same sentence in Indirect/Direct.

He assured me, "I will pay you tomorrow".

Options:
A) He assured / promised me that he would pay me the next day.
B) He said that he will pay me the next day.
C) He said he would have paid the next day.
D) He says he would pay me the next day. 
Solution:
The correct sentence would be - He assured / promised me that he would pay me  the next day.
