If no 15 shifts to no 1 than only no 7 (who is now no 9) will be 7th from right, otherwise it will be 8th from right.

Initially: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15
First Case: 15,2,1,4,3,6,5,8,(7),10,9,12,11,14,13 [ no 7 is 7th ]
Second Case: 2,1,4,3,6,5,8,7,10,9,12,11,14,13,15 [no 7 is 8th ]

Please clear the doubt, which case should be inferred here?

Fifteen students are standing in horizontal row from left to right. If all the odd numbered students in the row are shifted to successive odd—numbered positions, what will be the position of Sonam who was 7th from the left end in the row initially?
Options:
A) 8th from the left end 
B) 7th from the right end
C) 8th from the right end

Solution:

Ans: (b) Initially, Sonam’s rank from the left end = 7th


So, Sonam’s rank after shifting to successive odd- numbered

= 7th from the right end
