5 members of a team are weighed consecutively and their average weight calculated after each member is weighed. If the average weight increases by one kg each time, how much heavier is the last member than the first one?
Options:
A) 14 kg.
B) 20 kg.
C) 8 kg.
D) 5 kg.
Solution:

Ans(c)

Average of 5 members = x + 4


Sum of 5 members = (x + 4)5 = 5x + 20


Sum of 4 members = (x + 3)4 = 4x + 12


Weight of 5th member=5x+20−4x−12=x+8


∴ last member is 8 kg heavier
