In the penultimate step, No of tiles= (1928 x 1224)/144 is given but it should be 1928 x 1242 as dimensions of the second tile is 12m42cm.

Question:

A floor of 19 m 28 cm in length and 12 m 42 cm in breadth can be covered by how many square tiles each of whose length is 12 cm?

Options:
A) 16,629
B) 14,243
C) 15,215
D) 13,429
Solution:

Ans: (a) Length of floor = 19m 28cm = 1928 cm

Breadth of floor = 12m 42cm = 1242 cm

Area of floor = l x b = 1928 x 1242 cm2

Length of tile = 12 cm

Area of tile = 144 cm2

Required number of square tiles = \(\cfrac{[1928 \times 1242]}{144}\)

= 16629
