Question:
The sum of squares of two numbers is 90 and the square of their difference is 46. The product of two numbers is:
Options:
A) 22
B) 21
C) 20
D) 25
Solution:
Ans: (a) Let the numbers be x and y according to question,

x2+y2 = 90 ......... (i)

(x-y)2 = 46 ... (ii)

from equation (ii)

(x-y)2 = 46

or x2+y2 - 2xy = 46

or 90 - 2xy = 46

or \(xy=\cfrac{90-46}{2}\)

∴ xy = 22

The product of two number = 22
