age of seema is 3 times older than her. not 3 times the age of golu

Question:

DIRECTIONS : Read the given statements given below carefully and select the conclusions which follows statement correctly.

Seema is 3 times to her sister Golu, who is 4 years younger than his brother Abram. If Abram is 7 years old, then which of the conclusions which follows statement correctly?

Conclusions :

I.  Seema is older than Abram.

II. Addition of ages of Golu and Abram is less than Seema.

Options:
A)

Only conclusion I follows

B)

Only conclusion II follows

C)

Neither conclusion I nor II follows

D)

Both conclusions I and II follow

Solution:

Ans: (d)

The ages of children can be calculated as:

Abram → 7 years

Golu → 7 – 4 = 3 years (as golu is 4 years younger than Abram)

Seema → 3 × 3 = 9 years (age of Seema is thrice the age of Golu)

From above details, it is clear that Seema is older than Abram, thus conclusion I follows.

And age of Golu + Abram = 7 + 3 = 10 is not less than that of Seema = 9, therefore conclusion II doesn’t follow.
