if we take difference less than 20 then answer should be 35.

Question:

In a two digit number, the digit at the unit place is 1 less than twice the digit at the ten’s place. If the digit at unit’s and ten’s place are interchanged, the difference between the new and the original number is less than the original number by 20. The original number is –

Options:
A)

57

B)

24

C)

47

D)

35

Solution:

Ans: (c)

Let ten’s digit = y, then unit digit = 2y– 1

 original number = 10 y + (2y – 1) = 12y – 1

New number = 10(2y – 1) + y = 21y – 10

Then (21y – 10) – (12y– 1) = 12y – 1 – 20

y = 4

original number = 12 × 4 – 1 = 47
