Dear student,

1 m shallow at one end and 2 m deep at other end. They are parallel sides thus we have to calculate the area of the trapezium and multiply by the width of the pool to get the volume of swimming pool.
formula to calculate area of trapezium = 1/2(sum of parallel sides)*distance between parallel sides. so we use 1/2(1+2) .
