Why not option b (Question: 254676.0 )

Can anyone explain what ia wrong with option b as 'had' seems to be correctly changed into 'had had'...

Question:

Directions: A sentence has been given in Direct/Indirect speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, select the one which best expresses the same sentence in Indirect/Direct speech.

I reflected, “If I had a thousand books, I would be rich.” 

Options:
A)

I reflected that if I have had a thousand books I would be rich. 

B)

I reflected that if I had had a thousand books I would be rich. 

C)

I reflected that had I had a thousand books I would be rich. 

D)

I reflected that if I had a thousand books I would be rich. 

Solution:

Ans: (d) I reflected that if I had a thousand books I would be rich.
