as you mentioned in last mock that if one part is in simple past other should also b in past, and did is more relevant as it tells that he did score rather than he had ?

Solution:
Ans: (b) Since the pronoun refers to the batsman mentioned earlier, replace that with he. And because ‘as’ is mentioned earlier in the sentence, we have to use ‘as” again with the subject.
