Why is 7 added instead of 3.5 ? (Question: 451922.0 )

In the solution, why is 7 added if the width is 3.5?

Question:
A hall 25 metres long and 15 metres broad is surrounded by a porch of uniform width of 3.5 metres. The cost of flooring the porch at Rs. 27.50 per square metre is:
Options:
A) Rs. 9149.50
B) Rs. 8146.50
C) Rs. 9047.50
D) Rs. 4186.5 
Solution:

Ans.(c)

Area of porch

= (25+7) × (15+7) –25 × 15

= 704 – 375 = 329 

Cost of flooring = 329× 27.5

= Rs. 9047.50 (app.)

It is mentioned in the question
that the hall is surrounded
by porch of 3.5 m.
it means that length and breadth
will increase by 7 m.(i.e. 3.5+3.5)
Area of rectangle =l x b
=(25+7)x(15+7)-(25 x 15)
=329
cost of flooring=329 x 27.5
=Rs.9047.50(approx)
