so do we relate the figures on the two sides of the double colon (::) to each other? like a to c and b to d?

U r right ankit... and rishabh in this question there is no relation btwn a:b and c:d...stie's reason is irrelevant

the relation between the either sides of the double colon (::) is to be considered, not the nos. on the respective sides of the colon (:) on both sides.
e.g.,
a : b :: c : d
here the relation between a and b is to be established between c and d.
