Question:

Animesh covered a journey partly by foot and partly by tonga. He walked for 90 km and rode the tonga for 10 km. He spent 4 hr less on the tonga than on walking. If the tourist had reversed the times he travelled by foot and on tonga, the distances travelled on each part of the journey would have been equal. How long did he ride the tonga?

Options:
A)

    6 hours

B)

    4 hours

C)

    2 hours

D)

    5 hours

Solution:

    Let x be the speed by foot and y be the speed of tonga

    ATQ,

   90x10y=4

    From equation we get,

    y = 5 km/hr

 x = 15 km/hr

    Now,

        Interchanging this, we get,

     2 × 15 = 5 × 6 satisfied
