Question:
The sum of the ages of Amiran and Bhupesh, 20 years ago was five-ninth the sum of their present ages. Amiran’s present age exceeds Bhupesh’s present age by 20 years. Find the present of Amiran.
Options:
A) 55 years.
B) 39 years.
C) 35 years.
D) 32 years.
Solution:
Ans: (a) Let the present ages of Amiran and Bhupesh be 'a' years and 'b' years respectively.

a - 20 + b + 20 = \(\cfrac{5}{9}(a+b)\)

a + b = 90     .......(1)

a -b = 20       ........(2)

Solving (1) and (2), a = 55.

Dear student
By solving eq. 2
we will get the value of a
i.e. a = 20 + b
by putting the value of a
in eq 1 we will get the value of b
then b = 35
90 - 35 = 55
