It should be "Patient" instead of "Patients"

Question:
DIRECTIONS: In the following question, a sentence has been given in Direct/Indirect speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, select the one which best express the same sentence in Indirect/Direct.

The physician suggested the patient to give up drinking.

Solution:
The reporting verb is changed according to reported speech into suggest in case the sentence suggests someone from doing something. Thus, the correct speech would be - The physician said to the patient, "Give up drinking."
