Question:

If A and B are complementary angles, then the value of sin A cos B + cosA sinB – tan A tan B +  sec2    A -  cot2    B is –

Options:
A)

2

B)

0

C)

1

D)

–1

Solution:

Ans: (c) sinA cosB + cosA sinB – tanA tanB + sec²A – cot²B

= sin(A + B) – tanA tanB + sec²A – cot² (90º - A)

= sin 90º – tanA. tanB + sec²A – tan²A

(\(\because\) A + B = 90º)

= 1 – tan (90º– B) tanB + 1

= 1 – cot B tan B + 1

= 1 – 1 + 1 = 1
