radius of cylinder = sqrt 3

but radius of ball is 2

so the height of ball above cylinder = radius + sqrt (2x2 - 3) = 2 + 1 = 3

so total height = 3+3 = 6

Question:

A ball of diameter 4 cm is kept on top of a hollow cylinder standing vertically. The height of the cylinder is 3 cm, while its volume is  \(9\pi\)   cm3. Then the vertical distance,   in cm, of the topmost point of the ball from the base of the cylinder is –

Options:
A)

7 cm

B)

6 cm

C)

5 cm

D)

4 cm
