Dear Student,

Simplest ways to solve this problem:

Let the price of shirt and trouser be Rs. 200 and Rs. 300 respectively.
Then, price of set of shirt and trouser = Rs. 500.
After giving 20% discount on the set,
Selling Price = 500 - 20% of 500 = 400.
Total Discount on Set = 100.
And Discount on shirt is 30% alone,
SP of shirt alone = 200 - 30% of 200 = 140.
Rs. 60 is the discount on shirt then Rs. 40 must be the discount on the trouser.
So, discount on trouser = (40*100)/300 = 40/3 = 13 and 1/3 %.
