Solution- (Question: 113285.0 )

A- 10mins -------- 3 Ltrs in 1 min

30 Ltrs.(Capacity)

B- 15 mins --------- 2 Ltrs in 1 min

Water leaked through C in 6 mins= Water filled by A and B in 2 mins( when Man closes the leak pipe)

A and B pours 5 Ltrs in 1 min. So 10 Ltrs in 2 min.

C leaks 10 Ltrs in 6 min, 30 Ltrs in 18 mins.

Bit lengthy but simple. Apologies if you won't be able to understand it. Just trying to provide a solution.



Question:

One pipe can fill a tank three times as fast as another pipe. If together the two pipes can fill the tank in 86 minutes, then the slower pipe alone will be able to fill the tank in

Options:
A) 144 min
B) 110 min
C) 80 min
D) 178 min  
Solution:
Ans: (a)

Let the slower pipe alone fill the tank in x minutes. Then, faster pipes will fill in x /3 minutes

Therefore, 1/x + 3/x = 1/36

4/x = 1/36

X = 144 min.
