Solution is Wrong

Question:
A alone can do a piece of work in 6 days and B alone in 12 days. They begin together but 3 days before the completion of the work, A leaves. The total work will be completed in:
Options:
A) 3 days
B) 4 days
C) 5 days
D) 6 days
Solution:
Ans: (d) For last 3 days, B alone has done the work.

\(\therefore\) B’s work for last 3 days \(=\cfrac{1}{12}\times 3=\cfrac{1}{4}\)

Remaining work \(=1-\cfrac{1}{4}=\cfrac{3}{4}\)

Time taken by A and B to do the remaining work  \(=\cfrac{3}{4}\times\cfrac{6\times12}{18}=3\) days

\(\therefore\) Total time taken = 3 + 3 = 6 days
