Question:

Chiku and Deepti are working on an assignment. Chiku takes 7 hrs to types 35 pages on a computer, while Deepti takes 9 hrs to type 54 pages. How much time will they take working together on two different computers to type an assignment of 88 pages?

Options:
A) 8 hrs 
B) 8 hrs 15 min 
C) 8 hrs 16 min
D) 7 hrs 
Solution:
Ans: (a) 

Chiku's 1 hour's work = \(\cfrac{35}{7}\) = 5 pages

Deepti's 1 hour's work = \(\cfrac{54}{9}\) = 6 pages

Work done by both in one hour = 5 + 6 

                                             = 11 pages

\(\therefore\)  Required time = hrs = 8 hours

                         = 8 hours
