The given answer is correct.
Please refer the equation,
(F) DOF= 3(N-1)-2L-H
N=No of Links
L= Number of Lower Pairs
H= Number of Higher pairs
This equation is known as “Kutzback’s Criterion” for DOF of Planar Mechanisms.
The difference is that we have used j in place of L.
So J represents lower pair.
