    A solid cylinder of height 9 metre has its curved surface area equal to one third of the total surface area. Find the radius of the base.  

Options:
A)

     9 m 

B)

     18 m 

C)

     27 m 

D)

 30 m 

Solution:

Height of cylinder = 9 m

Let radius of cylinder = ‘r’ m

ATQ,

3 × 2πrh = 2πrh + 2πr2

4r × 9 = 2r2

r = 2 × 9 

r = 18

Radius of cylinder = 18 m
