Question:

The distance between $l$ and m is 200 m. The speed of two objects O₁ and O₂ are 40 m/s and 60 m/s respectively. Initially O₁, and O₂ are at $l$ . They move between $l$ and m. find the distance covered by both objects at the point of fifth meeting and also find time taken for the fifth meeting.

Options:

400 m, 40 s

2000 m, 20 s

1000 m, 10s

3000 m, 15s

Solution:

Ans: (b)

Total distance covered in 5 meeting = 2 n D

= 2×5×200 = 2000 m.

Total time taken = $\frac{t o t a l d i s t a n c e}{R e l a t i v e s p e e d}$

= $\frac{200}{40 + 60} = \frac{3200}{100} = 20 S e c o n d s .$
