will u plzz try once to solve the equations.

Question:
If x2 - 3x + 2 is a factor of x4 - px2 + q, then the value of p and q respectively will be:
Options:
A) -5, 4
B) -5, -4
C) 5, 4
D) 5, -4
Solution:
Ans: (c)

Since x2 - 3x + 2 = (x - 2) (x - 1) is a factor of

f(x) = x4 - px2 + q

f(1) = 0, f(2) = 0

or      1 - p + q = 0, 16 - 4p + q = 0

Solving p = 5, q = 4

Dear Student,

In this question x^2-3x+2 is a factor of X^4-px+q roots of x^2-3x+2 also factor of X^4-px+q .
after putting X=1 we get 1-p+q=0 -----(1)
and X=2 we get 16-4p+q=0 ----(2)

we can write it,
-p+q=-1----(3)
-4p+q=-16---(4)
eq (3)-eq(4)
3p=15
p=5
Put p in eq(3) we get q=4.
