if you take same distance always in this question than no issue will be there.
And if you do not take same distance between them than how could you solve question of nay kind.

Pillar X is in which direction with respect to Pillar Y ?

I.Z is to the south of Y.

II.M is to the west of Z and to the south of X.

Options:
A) Neither I nor II is sufficient.
B) Only either I or II is sufficient.
C) Only II is sufficient
D) Both are sufficient
Solution:
Ans: (a)

if x is west of y then m is south of x and if x if south west of y then also m is south of x. so correct answer is option(a).
