the Solution is incorrect 1x3/2+2x3/2 = 4.5 not 6

Question:

A room 8 m long, 6 m broad and 3 m height has two windows 1 12152 m × 1 m and a door 2m × 1 121562  m. Find the cost of papering the walls with paper 50 cm wide at 25 paise per meter.

Options:
A)

Rs. 39

B)

Rs. 37

C)

Rs. 33

D)

Rs. 35

Solution:

Area of walls = 2(length + breadth) × height

= 2(8 + 6) × 3 = 84 m2

Area of two windows and a door = (1 

12156×2 × 1) + (2 × 1 12156×22 ) = 6 m2

∴ Area to be covered = 84 – 6

= 78 m2

∴ Area of paper = Area to be covered = 78

⇒ (length × breadth) of paper=78

⇒ length of paper =  7850156×252 × 100 m

= 156 m

∴ cost =  156×25100156×25  = Rs. 39
