Given solution for question using similiarity of triangles is wrong. It cannot be solved in that way. Question needs extra information to be solved.

This is really really bad by TopRankers - so many flaws in questions and solutions. I would NOT suggest my friends to take up this test series.

Question:
PQ is a chord of length 8 cm of a circle with centre O and of radius 5 cm. The tangents at P and Q intersect at a point T. The length of TQ is –
Options:
A) \(\cfrac{15}{4}\)
B) \(\cfrac{10}{3}\)
C) \(\cfrac{20}{3}\)
D) \(\cfrac{21}{4}\)
Solution:
Ans: (c)

Dear student,

According to given data in question, concept of similarity is correct. In triangle OTQ and QTR.
OQ^2 /QR^2= Qt^2/RT^2.

Best wishes
