Likhit earns x% on the first Rs.2,000 and y% on the rest of his income. If he earns Rs.700 from Rs.4,000 income and Rs.900 from Rs.5,000 income, find y%.

Solution:

Likhit earns Rs.700 from Rs.4,000 income and Rs.900 from Rs.5,000 income. It means he is earning Rs.200 (Rs.900 – Rs.700) from Rs.1,000 (Rs.5,000 – Rs.4,000).

Hence, y = \({200\over1000}*100\)  = 20%.
