for total egg= x+3/4*x=7/4*x

7/4*(8) = 14 < ans must be 14 because he ask total number of egg >

Question:

A person buys some eggs at the rate of Rs.10 per dozen and 3/4part of the number of older eggs buys at the rate of Rs.12 per dozen. After selling all the eggs at the rate of   Rs.13 per dozen he gets the profit of Rs.30.  In the whole, he buys how many eggs?

A)

8 dozen

B)

9 dozen

C)

10 dozen

D)

None of these

Total eggs = x + 3x/4

                = 8 + 6

                =  14

we started of by assuming that number of eggs would only be bought in "Dozens" . Like if example i am purchasing "x" eggs , so the total number of dozens are x/12. We can take x/12 also in place of x, but that would unnecessarily complicate the solution. So, It would be better if we take total number of eggs in "Dozens" as cost is also provided per dozen and not on Individual eggs.
