Ans: (a) The expression 'the number of ' is followed by a singular verb. So, change 'have' to 'has'.

"Have" is more of a past tense. "Has" deals with present tense. And in the question..
it is mentioned
"Several of them have come from egypt" which we are assuming to be true.
