Question:

If 2 sin2x + cos2 45° = tan 45°, where 0 < x < 90°, then x=?

Options:
A)

90°

B) 60°
C) 30°
D) 45°
Solution:
Ans: (c)

2 sin2 x + cos2 45° =  tan 45°

or \(2sin^2x+\left ( \cfrac {1}{\sqrt{2}} \right )^2=1\)

or 2sin2x + \(\cfrac{1}{2}=1\)

or sin2x= \(\cfrac{1}{4}\)

\(\therefore \ sin\ x=\cfrac{1}{2}=sin 30^o\)               \((\because \ 0 \leq x \leq 90^o)\)

\(\therefore\) x = 30°
