why is x being divided by 2.
please explain.

Question:
A does half as much work as B in three-fourth of the time. If together they take 18 days to complete the work, how much time shall B take to do it alone?
Options:
A) 30 days
B) 35 days 
C) 40 days 
D) 45 days
Solution:
Ans: (a) 

Let A can do the work in  = x days

So, work done by B

A does half work ,so A takes double time to complete whole work,
now,
A : B
(days) 2 X (3x/4) x

(1 day work) 2/3x : 1/x


so , 2/3x + 1/x = 1/18........


x = 30
