problem with solution (Question: 326225.0 )

how do you know that the part of the rope encompassing a particular circle is 1/3 of the circumference of that circle by just looking at the diagram. to me it appears to be half of the circumference of the circle. please clarify further

The diagram below represents three circular garbage cans, each of diameter 2 m. The three cans are touching as shown. Find, in metres, the perimeter of the rope encompassing the three cans.
